The Disappearance of Khiara Henry

23 year old Khiara Henry was last seen in Maui, Hawaii on July 21, 2019. She disappeared after renting a car to visit Hana’s Waiʻānapanapa State Park.

Disappearance

In July 2019, Khiara Henry traveled from San Diego, California to Maui, Hawaii for a vacation. She traveled alone, and was staying at the Aston Maui Hill hotel in Kihei.

During her stay she took a couple of guided tours including a Hana bus tour on July 19, 2019, and a Hike Maui Tour of East Maui waterfalls and the rainforest on July 20, 2019.

At 2:00 pm on July 21, 2019, Khiara rented a black Nissan Sentra for one night to visit Waiʻānapanapa State Park in Hāna, Maui. She hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

On July 26, 2019, after numerous calls and texts from family went unanswered, Khiara was officially reported missing.

On July 29, 2019, Khiara missed her scheduled flight home.

Investigation

Calls to Khiara’s phone go straight to voicemail, and her credit card has not been used since the day she went missing.

On July 23, 2019, Khiara’s rental car was found abandoned in a gravel parking lot at Waiʻānapanapa State Park. Khiara’s car key, cell phone, and backpack were missing.

The mileage in the car indicates she had driven directly to the park from the rental agency.

On July 25, 2019, park officials made a report to the Maui Police Department indicating that the vehicle had been abandoned and a “suspicious activity” report was made.

Upon further inspection, police found Khiara’s credit card and ID hidden in the center console of the vehicle, and luggage was found.
